Being Honest In Prayer

A Conversation from Susie Larson Live

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do you ever feel uncomfortable when you pray? Or maybe you feel like you cannot pray for the things that are really on your heart? Being honest in prayer is how we can transform our hearts and souls. We can learn why it is important to be honest in prayer from Susie Larson.

Susie Larson is a national speaker, author, and native Minnesotan like myself. Susie also hosts a talk radio show called Susie Larson Live. On her show, she has conversations that bring scripture to life. She also provides practical ways to walk and live out your faith. In addition, her website, www.susielarson.com has a daily blessings section and an area where you can sign up for devotionals sent via email.

During of one Susie’s radio episodes from April 16th, 2021, she discusses how prayer is where we can be completely honest with God. Her guest is fellow author and theologian Kyle Strobel. His book, “Where Prayer Becomes Real,” describes how honesty with God can transform your soul.

God wants us to be real with Him. We can bring our brokenness to Him. We can then give Him all the feelings that we have been feeling on the inside. Kyle points out that God works in the most powerful ways. He works in the areas that we keep from Him or we are afraid that He sees. So we can safely pray to Him what He sees! As David states in the Psalms, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” (Psalms‬ ‭139:23‬ ‭NIV)‬ When we press into our areas of weakness and are truly honest with God, we will experience His peace.
